Mahmudullah Riyad is a Bangladeshi cricketer and former captain of the Bangladesh national cricket team in T20I. He is an all-rounder who bats in the lower or middle-order and bowls off-spin. He has played more than 200 ODIs and scored over 4500 runs and taken more than 80 wickets¹. He is also the first Bangladeshi to score a World Cup hundred¹.
However, Mahmudullah has been dropped from the Bangladesh squad for the Asia Cup 2023, which will be held in Pakistan and Sri Lanka from August 30 to September 17². The chief selector of the Bangladesh Cricket Board said that the decision was made after discussing with the team management, skipper Shakib Al Hasan and head coach Chandika Hathurusingha. He said that Mahmudullah did not fit into the plans of the team for the Asia Cup³.
