However, at this time, special arrangements will be made for the crossing of passengers with passports stuck in both the countries.

Akhaura Land Port Import-Export Association General Secretary. Shafiqul Islam and businessman Rajib Uddin Bhuiyan told Jugantar that the C&F Agents Association and the Importers-Exporters Association have jointly decided to close the port for four days on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.

The matter has already been brought to the notice of business leaders in Agartala, Tripura, India.

Akhaura Immigration In-Charge Abdul Hamid told Jugantar that even if the import-export trade at the border is closed at this land, the passage of passengers with special approved passports will remain normal.

He said Indian nationals stranded in Bangladesh due to the closure of the border would be able to return to their home countries as per the list of the Indian High Commission on the instructions of the Bangladesh Ministry of External Affairs and the Ministry of Home Affairs.

On the other hand, Bangladeshis stranded in India can return to the country with No Objection Certificate (NOC) or No Objection Certificate from Bangladesh Assistant High Commission in Agartala.
